True Bi-Partisanship in Ohio
Posted by Lynn Walsh on November 6, 2009

Three Republicans and three democrats; one cause: to select a replacement statue for the National Statuary Hall Collection.

A completely bi-partisan committee that will make recommendations to another bi-partisan group regarding who should represent the State of Ohio in the United States Capitol. Currently, former President James A. Garfield and former Governor William Allen represent Ohio. Allen will be replaced after this committee is finished with someone who “better represents the values and heritage of the State of Ohio.”

If only other committees could follow in their footsteps; then maybe Ohio would have a balanced budget, decreased spending, limited wasteful spending? Hopefully picking a statue is the beginning of new bi-partisanship relationships in Ohio.

Today, the committee will be at The Ohio State University hearing about the accomplishments of Olympian Jesse Owens. The committee has looked at Thomas Edison, Tecumseh, the Wright Brothers, and a few others. More trips are planned for later this year and in early 2010. Anyone can make a recommendation on their website.
