I am a writer, photographer, reporter, editor, and videographer. Currently I am the Chair of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Generation J Committee, a freelance investigative reporter and a blogger for the Radio Television Digital News Association.
I graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Media Sales, and Political Communication in June of 2008. While there I was a reporter for several local news organizations and held a variety of event planning and Public Relations leadership positions in organizations connected to Ohio University and Athens, Ohio.
I have a strong passion for writing, social media, politics, and pop culture, especially when it comes to online and multimedia platforms. I am always interested in new projects, whether it is covering an event or developing a PR/Marketing campaign.
Previously I worked as an investigative video journalist for Texas Watchdog, a news web site and training center that scrutinizes the actions of government agencies, bureaucracies and politicians in Texas. It is an independent, nonpartisan entity founded on the belief that our American democracy depends on transparency in government.
Through a combination of video, print, online blogging, and interactive tools I produced stories that focused on the Houston Independent School District, the seventh-largest school district in the country.
Below you will find my resume and past projects.
More than five years of professional experience in print, television, radio, and online journalism, with an emphasis in multimedia journalism, mobile reporting and government accountability and trasparency issues, including extensive experience with public information laws.
