I’m an Emmy award-winning journalist and digital explorer based in San Diego, California.
As a journalist, I have worked in investigative, data and TV journalism at the national level as well as locally in California, Ohio, Texas and Florida. I believe strongly in government transparency, holding the powerful accountable and spend more time than I would like fighting for access to public information. I like to explain why things matter and put complicated issues into context.
As a digital explorer, I work to help companies, newsrooms and organizations engage the public through ethical content, no matter the medium or purpose. I love exploring new online tools to share information online and through mobile applications. My passion lies in telling multimedia stories that deliver hard hitting facts across multiple platforms.
I speak about and train individuals and organizations regularly on the following topics: ethical content creation, FOIA & access, social media engagement, free expression & the First Amendment, digital innovation.
I’m a glass-half-full person who believes sunlight is the best disinfectant. I am a proud Ohio University Bobcat and loyal alumna to the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
I am always interested in new projects surrounding FOIA, public information access, mobile reporting tools, social media and interactive journalism.
